The Department of Geography was established after the establishment of this institution (GDC Jhandutta) in the year 2007-08 to run the undergraduate courses in Geography. Since 2013, CBCS programme BA win Geography and since 2017-18 UGC CBCS BA in Geography was started by the department. The Department of Geography is one of the vibrant organs which is formed to develop and inculcate the interest in geographical understanding among the students through organizing different academic and extracurricular activities. The department also inculcates the research aptitude among the students especially in BA III year students. They are guided and encouraged to carry out field surveys to prepare a project report or field report. The department tries to enhance the observation, interview, and survey skills of the students.
The department is fully equipped with a Cartography cum Survey lab and Computer lab to equip the students with modern technologies used in the field of geography. The Department is committed to imparting high-quality education to address the issues of environment, sustainable development and disaster management. Our mission is to mould the students in such a way to think like geographers to solve the problems of development and to save Mother Earth as a better living place for future generations and choose geography as their career as an academician or administrator.
